Boxing Day Early

One thing that is working out to our advantage this year is that the store flyers all start on Friday so this year all the boxing day flyers start early. I just got our flyers today and now we are making plans for Friday morning as to where we will be heading for shopping fun. A delicious new treat

Remembering back to the good ol days and the treats we loved as kids my husband brought up pudding pops. He used to have these every summer, especially the Jello brand with "Bill Cosby". Kitchen fun

We are back into finishing our kitchen, we took a break through the winter to gain our breath but now with the fresh spring weather we are back to finishing up our renovation. We are adding shelving and refacing all the cabinets. We also bought new doors from the local mill work shop to make the kitchen look the way we want it to. I am so excited to finally get this project behind us.

Well a couple of months ago we discovered we had a mouse in the house, in the end we ended up with 2 and we caught them and thought that was the end of that. Santa Claus is coming to town

It's coming up on that time of year when Santa comes to the malls and the santa clause parades hit in spades. It is funny here because we have 3 communities that are pretty much within 20 minutes of each other and they all have their own Santa Claus parades rather than 1 big one. It's kind of fun because with a busy schedule sometimes it can be hard to make one, at least they are all on different weekends

It's the most wonderful month of the year

It's that time, everyone needs to get into shopping mode as the countdown to Christmas is now here as it is the first of December. I will be trying very hard to get Christmas shopping done early this year so I don't have to rush around at the end when the malls are so crazy, I really can't stand that, and everything is all picked over anyway so to get the best gifts possible this year I am making an effort to get done early...wish me luck

Let it snow

Jay, just getting through

Jay would have to be the one that enjoys picture day the least, although I have to admit that even he was really good this year for being patient with us when it came to taking multiple pictures. He is maturing a lot and even helped with the kids instead of picking at them and making everyone miserable.

Birthday Boy

It's freezing out

My nice temperatures have disappeared, it was so nice but the last few days it is approaching Freezing temperatures. It unfortunetly looks like it will be very cold for Halloween night when the kids are going out trick or treating. At least their costumes are extra big so they can wear extra clothes underneath their costumes. It will be a lot of fun getting out with them for a few minutes before I have to head off to work.

Christmas Excitement

I was just wondering what everyones opinion might be on this subject. I typically will start my decorating in early November, now my thought on this is I really enjoy my decorations and it takes quite a bit of work to get them all up so they might as well go up early so I can enjoy them as long as possible. It seems like there is a lot of different opinions on this with people even waiting until the 23/24th of December to do their decorating.

Halloween Decorations

Well it's almost time to start decorating for Halloween, it's too bad it's so cold out today because it would have been a great day for hanging things out seeing as we are both off today but it will have to wait for another day. We have a big blow up halloween Lawn decoration to set up this year that we bought the day before Halloween last year so we only set it up for 1 day last year. Hopefully my lights will all work and we won't have to go out and buy a bunch of new ones this year. It'll be fun anyway when we get around to setting it up.

Beware the Ghouls and Goblins are Coming

Only a few more short days until one of our favorite holidays, Halloween. The kids are getting excited to get out in their costumes and play some tricks and get some treats. We will be going to the haunted house this Halloween and one of the kids favorite Halloween treat spots where they get yummy candy apples. Of course we will also be having a party on Friday for Blake who is turning 6. The kids were trying on their costumes today to make sure everything fit ok, we still have a couple of costumes left to figure out and some accessories to get but we should be all ready for the big night.

Ski Suit Dilema

Well I have found myself in a terrible dilemma ski season is only a couple of months away and I find myself still without a snow suit I can call my own. We have been shopping with for the kids and now have found suits for all the kids. I have changed my mind a few times and just can't find "The One". There is one online that I found but we are still waiting for them to come in the store. They got the medium one in this week and we are waiting for them to find the large size. I'm trying to be patient with the store but it has been all week and it still hasn't shown up yet. Continueing to be patient but frustrated.

Hot Spell

It has become official, Indian Summer has arrived on the East coast, after a few weeks of reprieve from the unusual hot summer we have been hit again for the last few days temperatures have been at the 30 degree mark with the humidity. We forgot what the muggy sticky feeling was like. The bad thing is we packed away all the kids summer clothes and changed their beds over to the fleece sheets. It will be like this through the weekend which is good because we had planned this weekend for getting our beach family picture done so it will be nice to not be shivering on the beach.

3 month countdown

It's official 3 months from right now I will be collapsing on a couch exhausted from another awesome Christmas with the kids. Usually we are much further ahead in our shopping but we have had a bunch of expenses that have come up so we are getting started now. I'm sure it will be ok and we will get it all done in time, we are hoping to have some family come to visit with us this year for the first time. Merry Christmas everyone!

Hard Deliberation

We were faced with a very hard decision this week, we have been waiting for years to get an opportunity to move back home to be closer to family and this week there was finally an opening for my husbands work. Once the reality hit in we realized how settled we had become her in our home and it made it very hard to decide what to do. We made some inquiries and the final straw came when we were informed we would have to take a $10000 per year cut in pay to go there because it is considered a smaller location and pays less to manage. It was very disappointing from that perspective but now that the decision to stay is made we all are feeling much more relieved here in the house today and the kids are getting excited to head back to school tommorrow morning. I'm sure we made the right choice for us at this point and look forward to getting everything back on routine.

The blond says between sniffles,

My son just turned 13 last month and now it finally happened, he wants to shop for his own clothes, Mom's choice just doesn't work anymore, he has to shop at the "COOL" stores. I have to say that he has pretty good taste and this is one of the choices he made, I love the blue it's so bright the outfit has a sweater with it that I was able to get a shot of him sitting on the blue couch with his puppy. Kitchen renovations

The kitchen renovations are in full force and going great, we area almost ready to start the staining process, we are a little nervous but I think we will make out just fine with a little patience. I am so excited to finally get the room finish, I have been waiting for 2 years since we moved in to get this finished and it makes it even more exciting to know we did it all our selves. Vacation Flood

We had a visit home last weekend and the kids always love exploring Grandpa's farm. There are fields, a garden and the barn full of animals to keep them busy. wild life trip

I had the pleasure of chaperoning Blakes class field trip to the wild life park, it was a great day and the kids had a blast visiting with all the animals even getting to feed some. It was so nice out with a beautiful sunny day. Blake had a great time and was buddies up with his good friend Emily the whole day, they were inseperable with lots of hand holding, how cute.

Spring Time Picture

At the kids year end dance show I got all the kids together and they were dressed very nicely to boot so it was time to snap a few shots of them all together. It has been a very busy year for all of us with me working nights and the kids going almost every night to some activity from dance, to basketball to youth group it makes for an exhausting year, especially for hubby who does most of the running. Summer is coming and with it a major slow down in activities, time to catch up on some much needed rest.

The final tree stump experience

Last summer we cut down an giant apple tree out of our back yard, it had developed a split in the trunk and had to come down before it became a hazard. The other anoying thing about the tree was it would drop literaly 10's of thousands of apples every season from June to September. It's here it is really here, the first long weekend of the summer and I can't wait. With the kids finishing up their last dance competition for the year it is now time to focus on their year end recitals. Here is the tap girls getting ready for their performance last weekend. It's a fun time of year but there isn't much time to rest as I heard we are starting rehersals for next years production numbers the week after the recital and all through the summer, should be fun. We'll have to really enjoy the week off.

Today our son turns 14 years old, it only seems like yesterday when he was born, now he towers over both of us so I can only imagine how big he'll grow. We are very lucky to have a well rounded young man that is doing very well with school and is responsible around the house. Of course there are moments but he is a teenager so you have to expect that sometimes.

Dance competitions

Well it's all over for another year, we just spent 5 days at the final dance competition for the year. The kids did over 25 performances all together and had a great time. Of course after many hours watching and competing they are all exhausted and I think we are too. They were very excited to get lot's of metals for their hard work and dedication. Now it's getting ready for their year end recital, much more relaxing and than a short break before we start getting ready for next year classes.

Flaming Stump

Now that things have started to dry up we decided it was time to start working on burning up the old stump from our Apple tree. It was last year when we brought the old tree down and now the stump has dried up enough to work on burning it up. We have a pit and will be working over the weeked to destroy the last of the tree. We will have to get some marshmellows and hot dogs to enjoy around the bonfire.

Spring time means renovation time

It's one of my favorite times of the year when things start to heat up outside we start to get down to business with our home renovations. Dance Competion

Our first Dance competition of the year is officially over, the kids had a good day overall, Kohl recieved a silver for his tap solo and Trinity was a bit more busy, she had 6 performances with 2 gold, 3 silver and 1 bronze overall. They were both tuckered out at the end of last night and were not long falling asleep while we were hanging out on the couch. It was a good run through for their next competion in a couple of weeks.

It's the most wonderful time of the year

No it's not Christmas but it is approching the year end for the kids dance classes. Competitions and year end shows are coming up fast. They had a warm up show last weekend for a fund raiser to get a chance to strut their stuff out on stage in front of an audiance, the kids did great even in the cramped space. We are looking forward to a great year end.

Party Fun

We had a sleep over party for Trin's 10th Birthday party and what better thing for a batch of girls to do than to have a spa night. We picked out some facial packages, Chocolate and Strawberry of course and let the girls loose. They turned into a bunch of animals literaly (Monkeys) and had a blast, I think it will take us a week to catch up on the sleep we lost but it was a lot of fun.

Easter bunny time

It's only a couple of days away, a sure sign of spring when the Easter Bunny arrives with his hippity hop. I hope he is carefull this year dropping eggs for the kids as now with the dogs they love to gooble up anything ever remotely edible that is lying on the floor. It is great because it is a couple of days for us that we get to spend together with no running around to dance, basketball, work or school. Here's hoping for some great weather so we can get outside.:

March Break fun

As a family we found a new hobby that we all agree on, the love of skiing. We finally all went this year a couple of times and we are now to the point of buying our own gear. The kids enjoyed it so much they actually decided they wanted to stay home for March Break instead of travelling to visit family...a first for us int he 10 years we have been away from home. It is so much fun and the great thing is the kids don't argue on the hills they just travel along together and have a great time.

TAKING OVER THE COMPUTER

My son is getting rather upset with me today because I'm spending to much time on the computer. I am trying to get some posts done before we go away. It's not to often, as a matter of fact this is the first time that I've had a good size list of blogging opportunities waiting to get done. vacation planner

We travelled down to the travel store today to start finding information and books for our upcoming vacation. The travel agent was super and gave us a lot of information to sort through to plan. She showed us the best times (budget wise) to travel down to disney. Now we have books to show the kids, they love the movie hotel and hopefully we will be staying there for our trip.

Planning a family vacation

We have finally made our decision on a family vacation, we are heading to disney land. It is a big job to plan a trip for 6 especially with little ones but we really want to get there soon. We are planning on next Spring or Summer at this time. We need to get a few debts cleaned up and save some spending money. The kids are pretty excited and we are showing them videos and pictures to build the excitement, not that kids really need any help building excitement.

Tax Time is coming

It is soon coming up to tax time, it will be different for us this year as it is the first year I have been back to work full time. It makes a difference for deductions and such, at least I can claim some childcare expenses this year and the home renovation tax credit should help us some as we put in new windows, doors and some flooring last year that we can claim. We are just waiting for our tax slips to come so we can get into our tax person to finish up our forms.
