RAIN....RAIN....RAIN....

Sure the rain is better than the snow we got here on Sunday but my God enough is enough. The rain would be one thing to deal with but it's the cold that comes with it. At this rate I am not getting any yard work done and the kids are always stuck in the house and really starting to get bored with it. But hey on the bright side of things, the workers were back yesterday and finished the last bit of work on the new windows so they won't be back and I can get things cleaned up around here. What a mess I am in. The kids dance competition starts tomorrow so hopefully the weather will get nicer, there is nothing worse then getting the kids to the competition in costume with worrying about getting them wet and dirty.

MORE AND MORE RAIN...

Our winter has been filled with lots of rain and has made things here really wet. We woke up to a snowstorm yesterday morning and by afternoon we were getting rain which quickly turned to heavy rain. This continued into the night and I lay in bed hearing the winds pick up I knew we were in for a good storm. The power flickered on and off throughout the night until 6:00am it went out and didn't come back on...a few minutes later all I hear from down the hallway was a little voice saying" hey, hey, turn on the hall light." That was Blake our 3 year old, he hates having the light off. Once Blake was tucked into our bed I then realized that without power the pump in the basement to drain anywater wasn't working and ran downstairs. OMG water and lots of it. Our basement was flooded with at least an inch or two of water. thankfully it's unfinished and only used for storage of things not to important. I got the kids off to school and when I returned home the power was back on and the water in the basement quickly drained and is now drying out. What a day! Thankfully it happened today and not tomorrow when hubby is off. It would have messed up my day to go shopping and have lunch out :0)

MESSY WINTER WEATHER...

This morning the schools were still open for students and against my judgement I sent them off to school with their father. The weather went from snow to heavy snow then quickly turned to freezing rain then heavy rain as the temperature got warmer. Well it didn't stay warm long and as it got colder out things starting to freeze. So when hubby was home for lunch I ran up to the school and brought the kids home. Better off home anyway and if I had of left them I would have had to take hubby back to work, come home, pick up the kids, come home, take Trinity to dance class, pick hubby up , pick Trinity up then come home...Sounds like too many trips on the slippery slushy roads don't you think. Everyone is home safe and now playing some Dance Revolution. Maybe next time this happens they will just cancel school or I will use my own judgement and keep them home.

***PRISON BREAK...

I am looking forward to the return of Prison Break tonight! Now I can get back into my Monday night routine of TV shows before heading of to bed and if I'm not mistaken I think I recall my husband saying that American Idol was starting soon. This week is it? I will have to look into that one. My kids are off to bed and I am going to finish up on the computer in the next little while and check the weather channel to see what to expect overnight and into the morning. Will tomorrow be a snow day for the kids. That would be fine with me, there is lots of work that needs done around the house and help would be nice....no I was just kidding LOL We will probably spend the day play Dance Dance Revolution if they are home and if so I will get to sleep in because hubby goes to work at noon. I will have to wait to see what morning brings. Will it be snow or will it be rain?

***SIGN OF WINTER

While on our drive back home to Cape Breton yesterday the weather was a bit unpredictable, with the sun, the clouds, the rain and yes mixed with the rain in some areas was wet snow. Yuck...it didn't last long but the kids got pretty excited and spent the trip home looking and hoping for snow. I am happy to say that when we arrived home the sun was shinning and it did not snow! Today is definitely cold enough for snow. BRRRRRRRRR :0(

*** THE STORM IS COMING

Well we woke up this morning to rain and according to the weather channel we should expect heavy rain by tonight with 100 kph winds. I will be surprised if our Halloween decorations are still around in the morning and more seriously I hope the basement doesn't flood. Some you always have to worry about when purchasing and older home. So tonight we will be taking turns making sure the pump in the basement keeps doing its job. I shouldn't really complain we haven't had a lot of rain but I'll tell you when it rains here it RAINS...
