I want my warmth

It's almost the end of April and I am still suffering through days of 1 or 2 degrees, just above freezing. I am so sick of the cold, I want my warmth, even on a sunny day the wind is so cold that still has a wind chill under 0. I still have to use the heat in the house, wear sweaters etc. errrr...I can't wait for some great sunny days.

Snow Day

Well the snow and freezing rain arrived overnight and surprise the kids have a snow day and are home from school. I was lucky because hubby had the day off work too so I got to sleep in. They are heading out to shovel the driveway in a few minutes and it looks thick and heavy as it turned over to freezing rain after the snow fell. There is nothing coming down now and it is at least above freezing so they should be able to get things cleaned up pretty good and keep the driveway wide enough for my new truck!

I'm going into hibernation!

What a change a few hours makes, yesterday was a beautiful day, it had warmed up enough that the snow and ice started to melt and got to a high of 5. This was very convient because it allowed me to send hubby out to widen the driveway so we can fit my new Torrent in the driveway easier. Anyway it started cooling off after supper and this morning I wake up to -21 and with the wind chill -30. I am frozen and spending the day in bed (which is very nice) hubby surprised me by going out and picking up the new Comforter set we were looking at while I was at work to finish up our new Bedroom. A nice benefit of having 2 vehicles as he was able to take the kids out and get groceries and the bedding and I was still able to have a vehicle at work to come home when I was done. Jay and Hubby are supposed to be going to a movie after lunch (Mall Cop) to celebrate their special day (Anniversary of day Hubby adopted Jay). They have been talking about the movie all week so I'm sure they will have a good time. The other kids are feeling a little bit left out but we had our family celebration last week so today is just for the them.

Yuck.....Winter

Oh, winter hit here tonight, it started around supper time with snow, a lot of it and it came down fast. When I went to work and dropped the van off to hubby at 8 it had turned to hail, big nasty balls of ice. He had to drive home and than come back for me at 1am, when he left work it was freezing rain. All in all it was one messy night and now it is turning over to rain so by morning most likely it will all be gone.

It is only 8:00am and the sun is shining! Today is going to be a really nice and a great way to spend our last visit with my family, we can actually get outside. Hubby is up and getting the outside door ready to paint (AGAIN) and I am going to set up out tent to show my parents how to set it up (they just got the same one). We have a huge list of things to do today and I am hoping that my dad as time to do some electrical work in our new bedroom before he leaves. But for now I am going to go enjoy the weather. TGIF!

I am so looking forward to the weekend. For the first time in a long time we have nothing planned, no running around for basketball or dance. Just a quiet relaxing weekend. Ok this is what my weekend should be like as long as it rains like it is suppose to for the entire weekend. If the weather clears I will have to participate in the Mother's Day baseball game with the church youth group. We will see what happens. Hubby works tomorrow night and again on Sunday (yep Mother's Day) but as long as the weekend stays quiet I will be happy. The kids already got me an outfit for the treadmill but I will have to wait until Sunday and I am thinking of making a chicken dinner for supper on Sunday. I will let the kids help then they will think that they made supper for me. I will be expecting a big mess LOL

Yesterday we got some more yard work done. Slowly but surely it will get done. We re planted another tree and came up with a great idea for a deck for the yard which would be a lot better for the pool so now do we go ahead with the new deck and fence or look into finishing the attic? Heck why not just get a second vehicle to make things a lot easier on us LOL Oh what to do and we can only do one and that will not happen right away. What would you do?

Next weekend is Trinity and Kohl's dance competition with tonight being there last rehearsal for hip hop. Kohl is so excited to be going to his first dance competition. Trinity still has another rehearsal next Thursday for Tap, Jazz and Ballet and will compete all 3 plus her hip hop with Kohl next Friday afternoon. I can't wait to get pictures of their costumes!

Even though it is raining today I still have lots planned. I got on the treadmill this morning for an hour while talking with my mother now I am going to change the curtains from my bedroom to the living room then will have to come up with something for my room. Now making the matching curtains for the from computer room won't happen. I need to be in the right mood to tackle something like that and if I have any motivation left over I will get some more cleaning done around here. I am going through things like crazy and throwing it out!

MESSY WINTER WEATHER...

This morning the schools were still open for students and against my judgement I sent them off to school with their father. The weather went from snow to heavy snow then quickly turned to freezing rain then heavy rain as the temperature got warmer. Well it didn't stay warm long and as it got colder out things starting to freeze. So when hubby was home for lunch I ran up to the school and brought the kids home. Better off home anyway and if I had of left them I would have had to take hubby back to work, come home, pick up the kids, come home, take Trinity to dance class, pick hubby up , pick Trinity up then come home...Sounds like too many trips on the slippery slushy roads don't you think. Everyone is home safe and now playing some Dance Revolution. Maybe next time this happens they will just cancel school or I will use my own judgement and keep them home.

***PRISON BREAK...

I am looking forward to the return of Prison Break tonight! Now I can get back into my Monday night routine of TV shows before heading of to bed and if I'm not mistaken I think I recall my husband saying that American Idol was starting soon. This week is it? I will have to look into that one. My kids are off to bed and I am going to finish up on the computer in the next little while and check the weather channel to see what to expect overnight and into the morning. Will tomorrow be a snow day for the kids. That would be fine with me, there is lots of work that needs done around the house and help would be nice....no I was just kidding LOL We will probably spend the day play Dance Dance Revolution if they are home and if so I will get to sleep in because hubby goes to work at noon. I will have to wait to see what morning brings. Will it be snow or will it be rain?

***GETTING PREPARED

I have been paying close attention tracking the weather today getting ready to deal with tropical storm "NOEL". I have been gathering up some items that we might need in case of an emergency, the house is clean, the yard is cleaned up and anything that can be blown around has been fastened down. All that is left to do now is what for the storm. I will keep you posted.

I am still a little (a lot) worried about our basement flooding, I know how much water we get down there on a regular rain fall. Please pray that our pump will do its job :0)

***SIGN OF WINTER

While on our drive back home to Cape Breton yesterday the weather was a bit unpredictable, with the sun, the clouds, the rain and yes mixed with the rain in some areas was wet snow. Yuck...it didn't last long but the kids got pretty excited and spent the trip home looking and hoping for snow. I am happy to say that when we arrived home the sun was shinning and it did not snow! Today is definitely cold enough for snow. BRRRRRRRRR :0(

*** THE STORM IS COMING

Well we woke up this morning to rain and according to the weather channel we should expect heavy rain by tonight with 100 kph winds. I will be surprised if our Halloween decorations are still around in the morning and more seriously I hope the basement doesn't flood. Some you always have to worry about when purchasing and older home. So tonight we will be taking turns making sure the pump in the basement keeps doing its job. I shouldn't really complain we haven't had a lot of rain but I'll tell you when it rains here it RAINS...
